U.S. First Lady Jill Biden decorated the White House with giant pink, red and white hearts, celebrating Valentine's day.
Biden displayed giant White House-created hearts on the North Lawn in addition to decorations inside the White House’s East Wing from the second-grade classes of the District’s 2021 Teacher of the Year, Alejandro Diasgranados, of Aiton Elementary School.
A big heart popped up overnight in front of the White House, accompanied by wooden cutouts of the Biden pets. The heart quotes 1 Corinthians 13:13: "Three things will last forever -- faith, hope, and love -- and the greatest of these is love."
The first lady and President Biden are welcoming 20 of those second-graders for a tour of the White House and Valentine’s Day installation on the North Lawn.
The first lady had previously surprised Joe with a heart that read, “Joe loves Jill.”
“I just wanted some joy,” the first lady told reporters last year. “I think things have been so — with the pandemic — everybody’s feeling a little down, so it’s just a little joy, a little hope, that’s all.”
“Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays because it’s all about love,” she said. “What’s so wonderful about having pets is they give you unconditional love, joy and comfort every day.”
