The Lithuanian government said on Wednesday that it had decided to close two of the country's six border crossing points with Belarus due to "geopolitical circumstances".
Lithuania's decision comes weeks after the Russian "Wagner" group headed to Belarus in the wake of an unfinished rebellion announced by Yevgeny Prigozhin against the country's leaders and the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Poland and Lithuania have strengthened their military presence on the border with Belarus, following Minsk's declaration of receiving Wagner fighters.
