American actress-singer, Lindsay Lohan will star in a new holiday rom-com movie for Netflix.
Lohan, who has largely foregone acting in recent years, will star in the yet-to-be-titled Netflix rom-com as a newly engaged, spoiled hotel heiress who gets amnesia after a skiing accident and finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter in the days leading up to Christmas.
The rest of the cast has not yet been announced.
Lohan rose to fame when she was 11-year-old after starring in the 1998 reboot of “The Parent Trap”, which was followed by a remake of “Freaky Friday” and “Mean Girls”, both roles secured her status as an A-list star. She withdrew from acting by degrees starting early 2010s and eventually moved abroad, living in both Europe and Dubai.
Lohan launched projects sporadically since, such as the 2013 movie “The Canyons”, the 2014 West End production of “Speed-the-Plow”, the 2018 British TV comedy “Sick Note”, the 2019 MTV reality show “Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club”, and as a judge on the Australian version of “The Masked Singer”.
In a 2019 interview, Lohan revealed that she wanted to come back to America and start filming again, noting taking back the life that I worked so hard for, and share it with my family and you guys."
The Netflix movie is set to begin production in November.
Janeen Damian will direct from a script by Damian, Michael Damian, Jeff Bonnett, and Ron Oliver. Its producers are MPCA’s Brad Krevoy and Riviera Films’ Michael Damian, with Amanda Phillips and Eric Jarboe serves as executive producer.
