Libya’s permanent representative to the Arab League, Ambassador Abdulmutaleb Thabet, said Monday he held talks with Fayez Mustafa, the Arab League’s assistant secretary-general and head of the Palestine sector, to review regional developments, with a focus on the Palestinian issue.
Speaking after the meeting, Thabet said he received a comprehensive briefing on the severe humanitarian and political conditions facing Palestinians in the Gaza Strip amid ongoing hostilities, as well as discussions on current international and regional shifts and their implications for the Arab world.
Thabet stressed that the Palestinian cause remains central for the Libyan people, reaffirming Libya’s unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
