Aguila Saleh praised Egypt’s longstanding support for Libya, describing Egypt as “the only refuge for all Arabs” and reaffirming the deep historical ties between the two neighboring nations.
Saleh made the remarks during a speech delivered at the Egyptian parliament during a session chaired by Counselor Hisham Badawi and dedicated to discussing ways to strengthen Egyptian-Libyan relations and parliamentary coordination between the two countries.
The session focused on enhancing political and parliamentary cooperation, supporting regional stability, and expanding joint development efforts based on the longstanding historical and social ties linking the Egyptian and Libyan peoples.
Speaking before lawmakers, Aguila Saleh expressed the appreciation of the Libyan House of Representatives for Egypt’s continued support, stressing what he described as the sincere commitment of both countries to maintain communication, cooperation, and coordination across various fields.
He said Egypt occupies a distinguished place among Arab nations due to its hospitality and its support for migrants, students, political refugees, and people seeking safety and stability.
Saleh emphasized that relations between Egypt and Libya go beyond traditional diplomatic ties, describing them as relations rooted in shared history, language, kinship, and brotherhood that have endured for centuries despite regional crises and political challenges.
The Libyan parliament speaker added that Libyans “will never forget Egypt’s support,” praising Cairo’s consistent backing for the Libyan people without conditions during difficult periods.
