Libyan Parliament Speaker Aguila Saleh will arrive in Algeria, within hours, for a two-day visit, to discuss developments of his country's crisis and the endeavors for a political solution in Libya.
During his visit, Saleh will meet with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sabri Boukadoum and Speaker of the People's National Assembly Slimane Chenine.
The meetings are expected to tackle the latest developments in the Libyan scene, especially after the recent Egyptian move to help its tribes to protect their country’s territory.
On July 16, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received a high-level delegation of Sheikhs and Notables of Libyan tribes representing all the war-torn country’s spectra and regions.
In this regard, the tribes demanded Sisi to allow the Egyptian armed forces to intervene in Libya and protect the national security of Egypt and Libya.
Earlier, Algerian President Tebboune warned of turning Libya a new Somalia, according to his statements to France 24 TV channel on July 4th.
It’s believed that Algeria will renew its proposal to hold a Libyan-Libyan dialogue forum under international and regional sponsorship to conclude a political solution to the crisis and reach a formation of transitional institutions and a unified government that shall prepare for organizing new elections and revive legitimacy for the state institutions, according to Algerian media reports published on Friday.
Saleh’s visit to Algeria is his second in a month after a recent visit took place on June 13.
“We stand at the same distance from all the parties in Libya. We have no expansionist or economic ambitions in Libya, all we want is to stop the fighting,” Tebboune said during meeting Saleh last month.
He noted, “Our decisions were announced by us in the Berlin conference, and several countries violated the decisions taken by providing weapons to Libya and contributing to driving wedges between the Libyans.”
