Major General Ahmed Al-Mismari, Spokesman of the Libyan Army said that the surprise visit of Turkish Defense Minister, Hulusi Akar is a violation of Libya's sovereignty.
Al-Mismari slammed Akar's visit to Tripoli during a press conference in Benghazi on Monday evening, claiming that the Turkish Defense Minister arrived in Libya without consulting the Libyan side.
“This is a felony. All Libyan soldiers have been removed from the Mitiga base, which is now completely under the hands of Turkish forces," Al-Mismari stated. The Libyan army spokesman also criticized the Presidential Council, the Interim Government, civil society, and political activists for being silent in the face of this "arbitrary" Turkish decision. He went on to say that the LNA is dedicated to having elections on time and striving for peace.
