The Libyan National Army (LNA) announced on Sunday that it fully controlled Sirte city and its port, western Libya.

LNA forces also dominated Ghardabiya Airbase and the main military camps, which were affiliated to Fayez Al Sarraj's militias.

Director of the Department of Moral Guidance in the Libyan National Army Brigadier Khaled Al Mahjoub told Sky News Arabia that the Libyan army entered the "heart of Sirte" and has full control over its main streets adding the army is ready to deal with any developments there.

Meanwhile, Ahmed Al-Mesmari, LNA spokesman, said in a press conference today that Sirte liberation took less than three hours only, underlining that the city is free of terror militias.

"Currently, LNA troops are chasing the militias which escaped from the coastal city," Al-Mesmari noted.

He added that the locals warmly welcomed the LNA troops, pointing out that 19 militants were killed, 11 of them were Syrians.

These regional developments came after one day of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's announcement of the deployment of Turkish troops to Libya to support Al Sarraj militias.
