The UN envoy to Libya, Stephanie Williams, announced the parties' agreement on the powers of the Presidency Council and the next government, and the launch of a project to unify the Petroleum Facilities Guard.

During a press conference in Libya, on Monday evening, Williams said that we will launch an international audit process on the Libyan Central Bank, and we have begun work in Sirte to agree on the evacuation of the area of heavy equipment and militias and the opening of the coastal road between Misurata and Sirte, and the powers of the Presidency Council and the next government.

Williams urged the approval of the second chapter of the oil corporation’s budget, with production reaching 1.1 million barrels per day to increase production and strengthen the infrastructure, noting that she will brief the Security Council within 3 days on the current developments of the existing paths in Libya.

On his part, the head of the National Oil Corporation, Mustafa Sanallah, said that the NOC submitted a proposal to establish a new protection force for oil installations, including military and civilians, noting that the safety of the oil sector and its workers is a top priority.

On the method of forming the unified force to protect oil institutions, he said that the new force will be composed of 3 departments.

The parties also agreed to start assigning the task of securing highways to the Security Arrangements Committee after the departure of all forces, provided that the insurance framework will be crystallized in the upcoming meetings, which are expected to resume next week.

Through the unification of the National Oil Corporation, the UN mission seeks to ensure the increase, continuity and regularity of the flow and export of oil in Libya, where the volume of production on Sunday reached one million and 200 thousand barrels, weeks after the signing of an agreement that allowed the restoration of production and exports and the end of all closures in all oil fields and ports.
