The Italian newspaper "Il Foglio" revealed Wednesday that Rome has a different plan for Libya, in light of the recent monitoring of Italian intelligence movements.
The Italian plan is based on identifying two different personalities as potential peacemakers in Libya: Ahmed Maiteeq, the deputy head of the Government of National Accord in the West, and National Army Commander Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar in the east, according to the Italian Nova agency.
The news agency added that “On January 19, the head of the Italian Foreign Information and Security Agency, Gianni Caravelli, met General Haftar in Benghazi,” manifesting that another meeting took place between the two persons again on December 17.
