Libya: Hurghada Hosts Military Talks between Warring Parties

The Egyptian city of Hurghada will host later today Sunday a meeting between military leaders from the Libyan National Army (LNA) and others affiliated to the Government of National Accord (GNA), according to Al-Arabiya news.

The meeting will discuss the establishment of two military committees from the east and west of Libya, to form a force responsible for securing the headquarters of the new government in Sirte, as well as establishing an expanded military committee to discuss the declaration of a unified military force in Libya.

Moreover, they will tackle developing plans to remove mercenaries and armed militias, in addition to securing oil sites.

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received this morning, Wednesday, at Ettahadiya Presidential Palace, Aguila Saleh, Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, and Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Commander of  (LNA).

“President Sisi was briefed, during the meeting, on developments in Libya and the efforts of all parties to implement a field ceasefire,” said Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

Rady added that the meeting tackled also the Libyan efforts to advance the peace process under the auspices of the United Nations.
