Libya hosted the 63rd regular session of the Council of Arab Health Ministers and its Executive Bureau in Tripoli on Dec. 18, bringing together Arab health ministers, ambassadors and senior delegations.
The Executive Bureau met under the chairmanship of Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar to approve the agenda and draft resolutions, while the council session was chaired by Libya’s Acting Health Minister Mohamed Al-Ghouj. Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh addressed the opening, alongside senior Arab officials and representatives of the Arab League and the World Health Organization.
The council awarded the Arab Doctor Prize to Saudi Arabia and Egypt, and the Nursing and Midwifery Prize to Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Morocco. Ministers reviewed successful health initiatives, endorsed strategies on primary health care, migrant health workforce engagement and emergency preparedness, and discussed urgent support for Palestine’s health system.
