Libya's Government of National Accord, headed by Fayez al-Sarraj, announced, on Friday, a nationwide ceasefire and ordered its forces to halt all military operations across the country.
The GNA's chairman also called for holding presidential and parliamentary elections in the upcoming March, according to a statemented signed by Sarraj.
Sarraj orders all military forces to stop operations and calls Sirte and Al Jufra to be declared as demilitarized zone.
It's noteworthy that Tobruk-based House of Representatives joined the ceasefire call.
In this context, Libya's GNA chairman stressed that the Council of State calls for new presidential and parliamentary elections in the upcoming March, 2021, according to appropriate agreed constitutional base."
Moreover, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, released a statement calling for abiding by the ceasefire by all warring parties.
