"Legally Blonde 3" to Hit Theaters in 2022

MGM is pushing the theatrical release for "Legally Blonde 3" movie to May 2022, starring Reese Witherspoon.

"Elle Woods is back! Legally Blonde 3 coming in May 2022. We rest our case." MGM announced on Twitter this week.

News of a third part was first announced in 2018 with original writers Kirstin Smith and Karen McCullah set to return.

Witherspoon is reprising her role as Elle Woods, the Chihuahua-toting sorority girl, in the upcoming sequel.

The actress played Woods in 2001's "Legally Blonde" and its 2003 sequel, "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde".

The franchise follows Woods, as she pursued a law degree at Harvard University and then later a career in politics.

Witherspoon recently hosted a virtual "Legally Blonde" reunion on her Hello Sunshine YouTube channel, moderated by Saturday Night Live cast member Chloe Fineman.

The "Legally Blonde" star was joined by Luke Wilson, Jennifer Coolidge, Selma Blair, Holland Taylor, Alanna Ubach, Jessica Cauffiel, Ali Larter, and Matthew Davis, all of whom played memorable roles in 2001's "Legally Blonde".
