Lebanese President Michel Aoun affirmed that any exploration, excavation, or extraction work carried out by Israel in the disputed maritime areas constitutes an act of aggression that threatens international peace and security.
The Lebanese President revealed that he followed the developments related to the maritime movements carried out by the ship of the LNG production unit (Energean Power) off the disputed maritime border area with Israel.
He had received a phone call from the caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, during which they discussed the steps to be taken to confront what he described as the Israeli attempts to create situations that lead to tension in the border maritime area.
The Lebanese president confirmed that he agreed with Mikati to invite the American mediator on the subject of negotiations, Ambassador Amos Hochstein, to come to Beirut and discuss completing the negotiations to demarcate the southern maritime borders, which were halted some time ago, and work to end them as soon as possible.
