The Lebanese Cabinet approved on Wednesday raising the minimum salaries for public sector employees from $150 to $400 per month, with the maximum being $1,200, according to the Lebanese Al-Jadeed channel.
The TV channel indicated that the decision came during a government session, which discussed several issues, the most important of which was employee salaries, while consideration of the banking regulation law was postponed to another session.
Over the past weeks, official institutions have witnessed employee strikes to protest their monthly salaries, according to what was reported by the Arab World News Agency.
The number of public sector employees is estimated at 350,000, and the minimum salary was equivalent to $450 per month before the economic crisis in 2019.
