Lebanon Losing Control of Coronavirus Amid Steep Rise in Cases

The head of the Lebanese Parliamentary Health Committee, Assem Araji, revealed that Lebanon has lost control of the new Coronavirus due to the chaos that prevailed in the past weeks, pointing out that since the beginning of last December until today, about 100 patients have entered intensive care.

The Lebanese "Al-Nashra" agency quoted Araji as saying that his country will approach the Italian scenario regarding the new Coronavirus this January, pointing out: "we can reach a daily cases of 4 and 5 thousand."

Araji indicated that the number of deaths reached 422 within one month, explaining that the occupancy rate in intensive care exceeded 90%, revealing that the Parliamentary Health Committee may issue a recommendation of full lockdown.

Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health announced the registration of more than 2,385 new cases of coronavirus and 11 deaths during the past 24 hours.
