The Lebanese Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Ahmed Al-Hajjar, has strongly emphasized the critical importance of sustained international support for Lebanon, particularly aimed at the nation’s security and military apparatuses. Minister Al-Hajjar noted that such backing is vital to empower state forces to effectively fulfill their operational mandates, uphold domestic stability, and navigate pressing geopolitical challenges.
The high-level remarks came during a strategic diplomatic meeting held in Beirut between the Lebanese Interior Minister and the French Ambassador to Lebanon, Herve Magro.
Strengthening Regional Security Frameworks
The official bilateral discussions centered on the fluid security dynamics across Lebanon and the wider Middle East. Both dignitaries evaluated ongoing international diplomatic initiatives dedicated to fostering regional peace, preserving state sovereignty, and bolstering defensive capabilities.

Minister Al-Hajjar and Ambassador Magro extensively mapped out avenues to enhance mutual cooperation across diverse sectors, with a targeted focus on homeland defense and internal security infrastructure.
The two sides paid special attention to reviewing institutional programs and capacity-building initiatives actively financed and supported by the European Union. These joint projects seek to modernize border management, enhance law enforcement training, and cultivate resilient civil protection measures.
France reaffirmed its historical commitment to Lebanon's territorial integrity, pledging continued advocacy within the European Union and the United Nations Security Council to ensure long-term stability in the Mediterranean nation.
