Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati said, on Friday, he had requested support from Egypt in the field of natural gas to urgently generate electricity.

On his Facebook official account, Mikati affirmed that Lebanon needs help as the country is grappling with crippling economic and fuel crises.

Mikati met yesterday with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi during a one-day official visit to Cairo, according to Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady's statement.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister hailed the ongoing Egyptian national experience, which prioritizes economic and developmental success, asserting that this experience represents a role model to be followed by the countries of the region.

He also expressed deep appreciation of the historical relations between the two countries, which are based on solidarity and full support.

In response, El Sisi stressed Egypt’s keenness for the security and stability of Lebanon, achieving the Lebanese national interests, and sparing the country from the dangers of regional conflicts.
