The Minister of Telecommunications in Lebanon Johnny Corm revealed that 10% of power stations in the hardest hit areas, such as southern Lebanon and the southern suburbs of Beirut, are currently out of service. He mentioned that other areas have managed to maintain a minimum level of normal power usage.
Speaking with the “Alqahera News” channel, Corm explained that communication and internet services were disrupted in some southern areas due to various reasons, including direct missile hits and a lack of diesel fuel or repairs.
Corm highlighted that at the onset of the conflict, the ministry maintained constant communication with the Lebanese army, which, in turn, was in contact with the United Nations to coordinate efforts for security support, repairs, and diesel fuel delivery.
He further explained, "The United Nations was unable to authorize the army to grant the ministry access to these areas." He also mentioned that one of the ministry’s employees lost his life while carrying out his duties.
