An Israeli air strike targeted a Lebanese Army checkpoint in the Al-Amiriya area, south of the coastal city of Tyre, on Monday afternoon. The attack resulted in the death of one soldier and left several others injured, according to local military reports.
Intensified Aerial Attacks
The strike on the military checkpoint was part of a broader wave of aerial activity in Southern Lebanon. In a separate incident, an Israeli drone targeted a public school in the town of Al-Samaiya, located east of Tyre. While the school sustained damage, no immediate reports of casualties from that specific strike have been confirmed.
Widespread Bombardment in Southern Lebanon
The Israeli air force also conducted raids on the town of Shaqra, accompanied by heavy artillery shelling directed at the town of Qallawiyah. Intense reconnaissance flights were reported over the region as shells also fell on the town of Al-Mansouri. The full extent of the damage in these residential areas is still being assessed.
Clashes and Israeli Casualties
The escalation follows a statement from the Israeli military confirming that six of its soldiers were wounded during various clashes in Southern Lebanon. According to reports from the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, these injuries occurred in separate incidents across the southern border zone as fighting between forces continues to intensify.
The targeting of a Lebanese Army installation marks a significant development in the ongoing regional conflict, raising concerns over the safety of national security forces caught in the crossfire.
