Lebanon's military forces have carried out a series of operations in the Bekaa Valley region, resulting in the apprehension of 43 Syrian individuals. The arrests were made due to illegal entry into Lebanon or the possession of inadequate identification documents. The operations took place in several refugee camps, including Deir al-Ahmar, Taybeh, Brital, Adous, and Ersal.

During these operations, the army also dismantled unlawfully installed solar panels and internet connection systems. These measures are part of a broader strategy to strengthen border control and combat smuggling and unauthorized entry of Syrians into Lebanon. The authorities have reported a decline in illegal crossings as a result of these efforts and intend to continue their operations until such activities are eradicated.

In a related development, Lebanon's State Security announced the arrest of five Syrian smugglers in Nabatieh, South Lebanon. These individuals were involved in facilitating border crossings between Syria and Lebanon in the Wadi Khaled jurd area in North Lebanon. The Lebanese Army regularly shares information on the number of Syrian migrants attempting to cross into Lebanon and their subsequent interception at the border.

Lebanon faces significant challenges due to the large number of refugees within its borders. The country has the highest per capita ratio of refugees globally, with an estimated two million Syrians residing in Lebanon, according to Lebanese officials. Approximately 830,000 migrants are registered with the UN in Lebanon.
