The leader of the Yemeni "Ansar Allah" group, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, threatened to target American "interests" in the region if the United States attacked his country.

These statements came after Washington's announcement of the formation of a maritime coalition to protect shipping traffic in the Red Sea.

Al-Masirah TV, affiliated with the Ansar Allah group, yesterday, Wednesday, broadcast the Al-Houthi speech.

Al-Houthi said: "We will confront any American targeting of our country, and we will make American battleships, interests, and navigation targets for our missiles, drones, and military operations."

He continued: “Our people decided not to submit to the Americans and not to back down from their principled, religious and humanitarian position,” as he put it.

The Houthi leader considered that the group's operations in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab, the Gulf of Aden, and the Arabian Sea "do not harm navigation or international trade."

He went on to say that Israel is seeking now to involve others in protecting its ships and those associated with them."

Last Monday, the United States announced the formation of an international coalition to confront Houthi attacks in the Red Sea, under the name “Multinational Security Initiative,” which includes 10 countries, including Britain, France, Italy, and Bahrain.
