Le Drian: We Respect Islam, Our Country Fights Terrorism

French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian stressed, on Sunday, at conference held in Cairo with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry, the importance of bilateral relations with Egypt.

" I had lengthy discussions with President Sisi and Shokry,” Le Drian said. “We also discussed the terrorist operations which France was exposed to recently.”

“Muslims are part of France, and we are fighting terrorism and extremism in France,” he stressed. “Terrorism targets numerous countries, including Egypt.”

He also praised Egypt's vital role in combating extremism and extremist groups.

The French Foreign Minister also explained that the situation in Libya noticeably improve for the best, noting to the ceasefire.

The French Foreign Minister affirmed that Cairo and Paris adhere to the departure of mercenaries and respect the arms embargo to Libya, indicating that the Palestinian issue was touched upon during the talks.
