Lavrov to Meet with ICRC President in Moscow

The Russian Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday that Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will meet with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Peter Maurer, in Moscow on Thursday.

According to Euronews, a spokesman for the Red Cross said on Tuesday that Maurer would visit Moscow for talks on the conflict in Ukraine.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that “The meeting’s agenda includes a discussion of the main areas of work of the International Committee of the Red Cross regarding  humanitarian response.” Noteworthy, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the launching of military operations in Ukraine on the morning of February 24th.

European, Western and American countries imposed huge economic sanctions on Russia. The sanctions also targeted Moscow’s leaders, led by President Vladimir Putin and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
