Lavrov: Russia, USA Engage in "Hot Phase of War"

Russian Foreign Minister (FM) Sergey Lavrov said that Russia and the United States of America (USA) engage in the "hot phase of the war."

"We are already in the hot phase of the war because the Ukrainian Nazis are fighting mainly with American weapons, and every time the US administration threatens to supply more and more long-range and deadly systems," Lavrov said, in his interview with Russia 1 TV channel.

But despite this, the Russian FM says that relations between Washington and Moscow must be preserved, highlighting: "I think we need to maintain relations."

"Or at least not to lose hope that the Americans will wake up and resume some kind of dialogue, we will see, there is not much left to wait," Lavrov added.

Lavrov's speech comes days after Russian President Vladimir Putin adopted a new strategy for his country's foreign policy, the most prominent title of which is "Washington is Moscow's number one enemy."

The text of the document, which defined the features of Russia's foreign relations, stated: "The American path is the main source of anti-Russian policy and risks to its security, and international peace based on balance and fair development for humanity."
