Russian Foreign Minister (FM) Sergey Lavrov affirmed that Russia highly values Venezuela’s interest in strengthening its relations with the BRICS group, which he described as a strong voice for the Global South and the East in the emerging world order, according to "TV BRICS" website.
This statement came as Russia and Venezuela marked the 80th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.
Lavrov wrote a special article titled "Russia and Venezuela: Friendship and Partnership Across Years and Distances" in the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry’s magazine 'Cancilleria' to commemorate the occasion.
Moreover, Russian Diplomat emphasized that Moscow and Caracas closely cooperate in international forums by exchanging support at the United Nations, with Venezuela consistently contributing to drafting Russian-led resolutions.
He also noted that both countries plan to expand their collaboration within the framework of OPEC+ and the Gas Exporting Countries Forum.
Lavrov highlighted the significance of the two nations' relations within BRICS, pointing out that Presidents Vladimir Putin and Nicolás Maduro have met more than ten times since 2013.
"We will continue to strengthen our friendship and build a stable, predictable long-term interaction," Lavrov added.
It is worth mentioning that President Maduro visited Russia in October 2024 and stated at the BRICS summit in Kazan that the group represents "a center for the birth of a new world based on humanitarian principles," reaffirming Venezuela’s commitment to BRICS values.
