Russian Foreign Minister (FM) Sergey Lavrov has highlighted the fundamental conditions Moscow deems necessary for settling the conflict in Ukraine, emphasizing that these demands constitute an indispensable basis for any sustainable political settlement.
Moreover, Lavrov explained that these conditions center around three key pillars:
First: Recognition of New Territorial Realities
Kyiv and its "Western patrons" must officially recognize the current status resulting from the "reunification" of Crimea, Sevastopol, the Donetsk People's Republic, the Luhansk People's Republic, and the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions with the Russian Federation.
Second: Legally Binding Security Guarantees
The establishment of legally binding security guarantees aimed at addressing the "root causes" of the conflict to prevent its recurrence in the future.
Third: Ensuring Ukraine’s Neutrality and Demilitarization
Ukraine must be a non-aligned state, remaining outside of any military alliances, free of nuclear weapons, stripped of offensive weaponry, and "denazified." This also includes a total cessation of the use of its territory for military purposes by NATO member states.
