Russian Foreign Minister (FM) Sergei Lavrov said today, Friday, that Moscow is monitoring the situation in Gaza and is seeking to calm the situation through a political solution based on Security Council and United Nations General Assembly resolutions.
Lavrov added—during a press conference following his participation in the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in Kazakhstan, as reported by Russia Today—that Israeli occupation forces are targeting civilians, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis, and hindering the peaceful resolution by not establishing the Palestinian state based on United Nations resolutions.
He pointed out that the Ukrainian conflict, ignited by the West and using Kyiv as a tool against Russia, represents a serious threat to the Collective Security Treaty Organization. He added that NATO is attempting to privatize all security mechanisms in the Asia-Pacific region, stressing the need to take all measures to ensure security in the Eurasian region.
The Russian Foreign Minister noted that many participants in the Switzerland conference expressed their desire for Moscow to take part in this conference, emphasizing that it is not possible to talk to Russia in the language of ultimatums. He also confirmed his country's focus on reaching a just solution to the conflict in Ukraine.
