Russian Foreign Minister (FM) Sergey Lavrov and South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Ronald Lamola discussed deepening political dialogue and expanding mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
A statement issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry following the phone conversation between the ministers read: "During the conversation, the foreign ministers of the two countries exchanged views on key issues in bilateral relations, with a focus on deepening political dialogue and expanding mutually beneficial trade, economic, and other cooperation.
They affirmed their commitment to strengthening coordination on the international stage.
The statement added that Lavrov congratulated his South African counterpart on the successful G20 Summit held in Johannesburg.
It is worth noting that the G20 Summit was held on November 22-23, and this was the first G20 summit to take place in an African country since 2010.
