Lavrov stated in the conference that this visit was an opportunity to look at the situation in all aspects, learning how to implement the agreements between the presidents of Russia and Syria, as well as taking additional measures if necessary, in order not to delay the agreements.

Lavrov has supplied 100,000 tonnes of wheat to Syria as humanitarian aid since the start of 2020, planning to ship more, according to what the Interfax news agency reported on Thursday.

"In terms of goals of rebuilding the Syrian economy, we have already had very significant decisions taken in recent weeks that will significantly enhance Syria's ability to organize work in a systematic manner," he was quoted as saying by Interfax.

He also claimed that concrete actions on the issue were being currently discussed, without providing any further details.

He conveyed his condolences again to the Syrians on the death of Walid al-Muallem, noting that the former foreign minister made a great personal contribution to strengthening relations.

The Russian Foreign Minister expressed his desire to achieve more progress in developing cooperation between the two countries.

On his part, Al-Mikdad referred to the permanent friendly relation between the two countries, stating that the main strategic goal was moving forward with what the two presidents, Bashar al-Assad and Vladimir Putin had built, asserting that this relation should remain strategic as it is.

Al-Mikdad also expressed his gratitude to the Russian Foreign Minister and the Russian government for their hospitality, noting that he looks forward to meeting him in Damascus in the near future.
