Russian Foreign Minister (FM) Sergey Lavrov met on Friday with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, to discuss the U.S. and Israeli strikes on peaceful Iranian nuclear facilities currently under IAEA safeguards.
The Russian Foreign Ministry stated, in a release reported by the "Sputnik" news agency, that the meeting involved a constructive exchange of views on key aspects of Russia's interaction with the Agency.
The statement highlighted Russia's active contribution to the organization's work.
"Special focus was placed on the situation surrounding the U.S. and Israeli attacks on peaceful Iranian nuclear facilities under IAEA safeguards, as well as the security of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP)," the Ministry added.
The Ministry further explained that several other aspects of the international agenda of mutual interest were also discussed.
Earlier, Grossi arrived in Moscow, where he met with the head of "Rosatom," Alexey Likhachev.
He also held consultations between Russia and the IAEA regarding issues related to ensuring the safety and security of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
