Russian Foreign Minister (FM) Sergey Lavrov stated that Europe has tried, and continues to try, to sow discord between Russia and the United States.

In televised remarks reported by the Russian news agency Sputnik, Lavrov added that Europe perceives U.S. policy under President Donald Trump as leaning in Russia's favor at the expense of European interests, which, according to him, drives their attempts to create a rift between Moscow and Washington.

Moreover, Russian FM emphasized that Moscow and Washington share the view that regular coordination of their positions on bilateral and international issues, including the Ukrainian crisis, is of high importance.

Furthermore, Lavrov noted that communication regarding the normalization of relations between Russia and the United States has taken on a "stable character" since last February.

Lavrov also explained that since the first phone call on February 12, which marked the first contact between the two presidents since Donald Trump’s return to the White House; the Russian and American presidents agreed on the need to swiftly move past what he described as the "poisoned legacy" of the Joe Biden administration to normalize Russian-American relations.

He added that contacts between the two sides have remained "stable" ever since.
