Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held phone talks on Thursday.

In a statment, Russian foreign ministry said that the two diplomats discussed a number of urgent issues on the international agenda, including the Ukrainian crisis, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the situation on the Korean Peninsula, and the Asia-Pacific region in general.

According to the ministry, the two ministers reaffirmed their rejection of the confrontational policy pursued by the Western bloc towards Russia and China, and its attempts to use sanctions to contain their development, deliberate provocations, and other illegal methods.

The statement said that Lavrov and Wang Yi pointed to the constructive nature of cooperation between Moscow and Beijing within the framework of the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, BRICS, and other international forms, and stressed that this cooperation does not target third countries.
