Russian Foreign Minister (FM) Sergey Lavrov has called on countries around the world to refuse participation in a conference on Ukraine to be held in Switzerland on June 15-16, and to resist Western pressure on this issue.
According to a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry, reported by the "Russia Today" news website, this call came following a meeting at the diplomatic academy regarding the complexities of the Ukrainian crisis.
During the meeting, Lavrov explained that the confrontation has taken on global dimensions, as the West is involving the majority of the world's countries, trying to limit their interaction with Russia.
He urged countries not to succumb to the pressures of the United States and its allies, and to reject the invitation to participate in the "Peace Summit" organized in Switzerland on June 15-16.
Lavrov emphasized that the purpose of the event in Switzerland is not to explore possibilities for resolving the conflict over Ukraine, as claimed, but to formulate and present an unacceptable ultimatum to Russia.
