Barcelona chairman Joan Laporta has confirmed that the Blaugrana's talks with Lionel Messi to renew his contract are progressing well and sent an optimistic message to Blaugrana fans.
Messi's current contract with Barcelona expired on July 1, but the club have yet to announce a renewal as they are trying to find ways to comply with LaLiga's financial fair play rules, and balance their books ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
Meanwhile, Messi won his first ever Copa America with Argentina after beating Brazil 1-0 in the Maracana final.
"[Messi's renewal] is progressing adequately" said Laporta during the presentation of Mago Pop's show 'Nothing is impossible'.
"All the Catalans, Barcelona, Catalonia and the entire football world are happy because Leo won the Copa America."
