On Tuesday, the Ministry of Labor updated the date for the Eid al-Fitr holiday, settling the debate regarding the holiday in the private sector. The ministry has expanded the holiday from two to four days.
Egyptian Minister of Labor, Mohamed Gabr, issued an official decision to determine the dates for the Eid al-Fitr holiday, setting it for three days, which could extend to four days based on the official sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon.
Initially, the ministry had issued a decision stating that the holiday for private sector employees would be limited to the first and second days of Eid, independent of the official moon sighting.
However, it later reversed this decision to align with the Egyptian Cabinet’s decision regarding the holiday in the public sector.
