On Saturday, many Kuwaiti sources warned the citizens against ignoring the medical measures against COVID-19, asserting that more mutated strains of the virus, COVID-20, would probably hit the country, describing its outbreak as a "matter of time."
The sources explained that Kuwait will start receiving its first Pfizer-BioNTech doses at the end of this week, and the process of receiving the rest of the doses will continue till February.
Also, the number of daily vaccinated persons will be increased to be 1400 persons starting from next week, highlighting that more than 10.000 persons since the beginning of the vaccination campaign.
Finally, the sources underscored that everyone should follow the medical measures including wearing masks and applying social distancing codes especially through the upcoming 6 months as it is expected that the outbreak of the new strain globally.
Last month, Kuwait launched the COVID-19 vaccination campaign, with the elderly and first frontline workers receiving the first doses, according to Sky News website.
Ten thousand people are expected to be vaccinated per day.
Kuwaiti Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah said, “the vaccine is safe and approved by the international community.”
Moreover, he added that the vaccination campaign will last for months, urging everyone to continue adhering to public health guidelines.
