The Kuwaiti National Guard announced that it had intercepted six drones over the northern and southern regions of the country, as regional tensions continue to escalate in connection with the ongoing confrontation involving Iran.

In a statement, the National Guard said the unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down in separate locations across Kuwait. Authorities did not immediately provide details about the drones’ origin or their intended targets.

The development comes as U.S. media reports, citing American officials, revealed that the U.S. military expended approximately $5.6 billion worth of munitions during the first 48 hours of strikes on Iran, underscoring the scale and intensity of the opening phase of the military campaign.

According to media reports, the Trump administration may submit a request to Congress later this week seeking additional funding to sustain ongoing military operations and replenish weapons stockpiles.

In a separate move aimed at strengthening regional defenses, U.S. defense authorities have reportedly relocated components of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile defense system from South Korea to the Middle East, as part of broader efforts to bolster missile defense capabilities amid rising tensions.

The latest developments highlight the growing security challenges facing the Gulf region as the conflict continues to unfold.
