Kuwait has resumed air traffic operations after temporarily closing its airspace for two hours as a precautionary measure following Iranian missile and drone attacks.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation said the airspace was closed from 4:15 a.m. to 6:15 a.m. local time, during which emergency response plans were activated to ensure the safety of passengers, flight crews, and aviation infrastructure.
Authorities confirmed that 11 flights operated by Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways were diverted to nearby airports during the closure.
Following coordination with relevant agencies and an assessment that the security threat had passed, Kuwait reopened its airspace and resumed normal flight operations at 6:15 a.m.
The diverted flights were subsequently cleared to return to Kuwait International Airport from airports in Dammam and Riyadh after air traffic services were restored.
