Falling debris from intercepted drones caused a temporary disruption to Kuwait’s electricity network, leading to partial power outages in several areas, the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said.
Ministry spokesperson Fatima Jawhar Hayat confirmed that six overhead power transmission lines went out of service at multiple locations after debris from drones struck near key infrastructure. The incident occurred during operations to intercept several unmanned aerial vehicles.
The damage triggered a brief disturbance in the national power grid and limited electricity outages in scattered parts of the country. Emergency response teams were immediately deployed and worked in coordination with security authorities to assess the damage and carry out repairs.
Officials said electricity was restored to the affected areas in record time under strict technical and safety standards. Authorities also confirmed that Kuwait’s electricity generation and water desalination systems continue to operate efficiently, with monitoring ongoing around the clock to ensure the stability of essential services.
The ministry urged citizens and residents to rely only on official sources for information and said it would continue to provide updates as developments occur.
