Kurdistan Region Reports 809 Attacks Since Start of Iran War

The Regional Government of Kurdistan Region of Iraq has reported a sharp escalation in security incidents, stating that the region has been hit by 809 attacks since 28 February 2026.

In a statement issued by the region’s Directorate of Media and Information, officials said the attacks have resulted in 20 deaths and 123 injuries, alongside extensive material damage to homes, workplaces and civilian vehicles.

According to official data, Erbil was the most heavily targeted area, recording 477 attacks in total. These included 419 drone strikes and 58 missile attacks, which left 10 people dead and 83 injured, according to Kurdish broadcaster Rudaw.

The report also noted that Sulaymaniyah and Halabja experienced 235 attacks combined, involving 194 drones and 41 missiles, resulting in 3 deaths and 6 injuries. In Duhok, 29 drone attacks were recorded.

The autonomous administration of Soran was also affected, with 68 attacks reported, including 59 drone strikes and 9 missile launches, leaving 7 people dead and 34 injured.

Officials said the total included 701 drone attacks and 108 missile strikes, underscoring what they described as a significant escalation in the scale and intensity of violence affecting the region in recent months.
