Today, an official source in the Saudi Ministry of Energy stated that a ship designated for transporting fuel in Jeddah had been attacked by terrorists.
The Saudi Press Agency "SPA" quoted the source, saying that the attack took place this morning, with a booby-trapped boat.
The source confirmed that the terrorist attack resulted in a minor fire, which the firefighting and safety units were able to extinguish, and the accident did not result in any injuries or loss of life, nor it did any damage to the fuel unloading facilities or impact its supplies.
According to "SPA", the source denounced this terrorist attack, stressing that it comes shortly after the attack on another ship in Al-Shuqaiq, on the petroleum products distribution station in northern Jeddah, and the floating platform of the petroleum products distribution station in Jizan.
The source stressed that these terrorist acts of sabotage, directed against vital installations, go beyond targeting the Kingdom and its vital facilities, to targeting the security and stability of energy supplies to the world and the global economy.
The source emphasized the seriousness of such criminal acts and their destructive impact on maritime traffic, the security of petroleum exports, and the freedom of global trade, in addition to the threat of coastal and regional waters to be exposed to major environmental disasters due to the leakage of petroleum.
It is noteworthy that no one claimed the responsibility for the terrorist attack, but the Iranian-backed terrorist Houthi militia often carries out such terrorist attacks using booby-trapped boats targeting Saudi oil installations and civilian objects.
Moreover, the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Dr Yusuf bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen strongly condemned in a statement, "the cowardly terrorist attack with a booby-trapped boat on a ship designated to transport fuel that was anchored in Jeddah."
