The Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) on Sunday decided to launch five riyals made of the polymer during the era of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz.

The Monetary Agency considered that the design and colors of the five-riyal made of polymer material to be similar to the design and colors of the same paper made of cotton, taking into account the different manufacturing techniques and technical specifications, and security marks.

The agency indicated that the initial quantities of the new currency would be circulated by Monday, along with the current five-riyal and the rest of the sixth edition of the banknotes, as official legal currency.

SAMA confirmed that the new five-riyal would get printed according to the latest standards in the field of polymer currency printing since it has characterized by many technical specifications and high-quality security marks.

SAMA also pointed out that the design includes on the face of the new currency the image of King Salman bin Abdulaziz and the picture of the Shaybah field in the Empty Quarter, and the back of the paper includes a picture of a view of wildflowers from the Kingdom.
