Twilight star Kristen Stewart is set to play the role of Princess Diana Spencer in a new movie entitled "Spencer", about the late princess's break-up from Prince Charles, according to multiple reports.
It is reported that the script will be written by Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders, and directed by Pablo Larrain.
Director Pablo Larrain described Stewart as "one of the great actors around today".
The movie will be set at Sandringham in the early 1990s and will highlight Diana realizing that her marriage is not working.
"We decided to get into a story about identity, around how a woman decides somehow, not to be the queen," Larrain stated in a press statement.
He added that she is a woman who decides and realizes that she wants to be the woman she was before she met Charles.
The production is scheduled to begin shooting next year.

The news was met with mixed reactions, where some fans found the casting choice to be odd, while some wondered why they did not choose a British actress, however, others found that Stewart is the perfect choice for the role.
In 1981, the princess married Prince Charles, and got separated in 1992 and porced in 1996. She was tragically killed in a car crash in Paris the following year.
The Princess of Wales has been portrayed on screen before by Naomi Watts in the 2013 movie "Diana".
