Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov announced on Friday that the deployment of nuclear weapons in Finland poses a direct threat to Russia, asserting that Moscow will take "appropriate measures" in response.

This comes after Finnish Defense Minister Antti Hakkanen stated, according to the Russian news agency "Sputnik," that the Finnish government is proposing to allow the entry and deployment of nuclear weapons, provided it is strictly for the defense of the country.

Hakkanen noted that the supply and deployment of such weapons would otherwise be unacceptable.

Commenting on the Finnish authorities' statement, Peskov said: "In fact, Finland's move to deploy nuclear weapons on its territory constitutes a threat to us," adding that "Russia is taking the necessary measures to counter this."
