Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov indicated on Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin has not yet made any statements regarding his participation in the 2024 election.
Peskov noted that his administration is busy with current affairs, and the campaign for the election of the president has not yet begun.
"It's still early, the campaign hasn't started yet. The Kremlin has a lot of current affairs, the president has a very busy schedule and a busy agenda," the spokesman said.
Asked if Putin had decided to run for the 2024 presidential election, Peskov revealed that the president has not made any statements on this matter.
The Kremlin spokesman also did not comment on remarks from the former Prime Minister and former Chairman of the Audit Chamber Sergey Stepashin that Putin should run for another presidential term.
Peskov noted that the Kremlin was aware of the work launched by the Central Election Commission (CEC) to prepare for the 2024 presidential election.
"This is a working process, the CEC is performing its functions," he said.
