The Kremlin has reaffirmed Moscow’s support for restarting commercial and economic relations with the United States, amid ongoing discussions between the two powers.
Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for the Russian presidency, stated on Tuesday that the Russian Federation backs a renewed engagement with Washington in areas of trade and economic cooperation. He highlighted that Kirill Dmitriev, Russia’s special presidential envoy for investment and international economic cooperation, is scheduled to meet with members of a visiting U.S. delegation in Davos during the World Economic Forum.
Peskov added that there is an ongoing exchange of information between Russian and American officials focused on reaching a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine crisis, though Moscow is not fully briefed on discussions between European and Ukrainian parties.
Regarding the proposed “Peace Council” initiative related to Gaza, the Kremlin stated it is still awaiting further details on whether the proposal would extend beyond the Palestinian context.
