Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced on Wednesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Thursday, according to Sputnik.
When asked by reporters whether the Palestinian president would visit Moscow on Thursday, Peskov replied: “Yes, I can confirm that President Abbas will indeed be visiting Moscow on a working visit, and the Russian-Palestinian talks will take place tomorrow.”
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov emphasized on Tuesday that the establishment of a Palestinian state is crucial for resolving the Gaza crisis, in light of the Middle East peace initiative launched by US President Donald Trump.
He added: “We are also convinced that in order to achieve a lasting settlement in the Middle East, it is essential to implement the UN resolution establishing a Palestinian state. I would like to emphasize that this criterion remains fully relevant in light of President Trump’s current high-level initiative to establish a peace council.”
