Last December, Egypt Defence Expo (EDEX) 2021 kicked off with 40 countries and 350 companies around the world taking part in the largest defense exhibition in Africa.
The EDEX 2021 was held in Cairo on Monday, marking the second time following 2018’s inaugural event. South Korean firms took part in the EDEX exhibition where they showcased their latest armaments.
More than a dozen Korean companies are taking part with Hanwha Defense Company, showcasing its 155-millimeter howitzer with a maximum firing range of 40 kilometers.
In the same vein, another South Korean firm, Hyundai Rotem, also showcased the K2 Black Panther tank because tanks are significantly more expensive than howitzers.
“Egypt is showing a lot of interest in our tanks. It won’t be easy to export them right now but we plan on doing this in the long term,” Seo Jun-mo, global defense sales & marketing team leader at Hyundai Rotem, noted.
